Dr. Nigel Sommerfield
MBBS, FRANZCR
Dr. Sommerfield completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Queensland and pursued his radiology specialist training at the Mater Public and Princess Alexandra Hospitals in Brisbane. Winning the Uhr-Clarke Bursary in 2003, Dr. Sommerfeld became a fellow of RANZCR in 2004.
Dr. Sommerfeld continues to practice part-time as a Staff Specialist at Nambour General Hospital, presenting the weekly Intensive Care meeting and participating in the thoracic malignancy multi-disciplinary team.
Dr. Sommerfield performs a range of interventional procedures:
- Percutaneous nephrostomies
- Ante grade ureteric stents
- Percutaneous cholecystostomies
- IVC filters
- Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar nerve root blocks
- Celiac and splanchnic neurolysis
- Transthoracic Needle Biopsies
- Thoracic and abdominal drainages
Dr. PRADEEP SONWALKAR
Dr. Angus Thomas
BSc, MBBS, FRANZCR
Dr. Angus Thomas was born and raised on the Darling Downs. He studied at University of Queensland and obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2002.
Dr. Thomas has worked in a number of hospitals throughout Queensland, undertaking specialist training based at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
He gained admission to the RANZCR in 2012 after completing a general MRI fellowship with an emphasis on neuroradiology.
Dr. Thomas is involved in Registrar training and his special interests include neuroimaging and abdominal imaging.
Dr. Peter Wakefield
MBBS, FRANZCR
Dr. Peter Wakefield studied medicine at the University of Queensland and undertook his radiology training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He gained admittance to RANZCR in 2008, following the completion of a Musculoskeletal fellowship.
As a staff specialist radiologist at Nambour General Hospital, Dr. Wakefield’s duties cover a wide range of sub-specialty areas utilising all modalities, including MRI.
His skills and knowledge of radiology are continually updated through his contribution to the registrar training program and his leadership at regular radiology meetings at Nambour General Hospital.
